Get Ready for Cross Country Season!

The Rising Runners Fall Cross Country Program is designed for boys and girls ages 10–13 who want to build confidence, improve their fitness, and prepare for the upcoming school cross-country running season.

Whether your child is new to running or already enjoys racing, this 8-week program focuses on developing the fundamental skills needed to become a stronger, more confident runner while having fun in a supportive team environment.

Each session combines endurance training, running technique, strength and agility exercises, games, and cross-country-specific skills. Participants will learn how to run efficiently on grass, trails, hills, and uneven terrain while building the fitness needed for races ranging from 1.5 km to 5 km.

JR. RISING RUNNERS – Intro to Running (Age 7-9)

Run. Play. Move. Grow.

A fun, game-based fitness program for kids ages 7–9!

Sept 15 – Nov 3, 2026 • 8-Week Program
Tuesday • 4:30-5:30 PM
ODSS Track, Orangeville
Cost: $129(plus tax)

Jr. Rising Runners is designed to introduce younger kids to running, movement and fitness in a positive, age-appropriate environment.

At this age, we believe fitness should feel like PLAY!

Each session combines games, challenges and simple running activities that help kids develop the fundamental movement skills they need for sport and for an active life.

WHAT WILL KIDS WORK ON?

ENDURANCE

Fun running games and activities that gradually build stamina and help kids become more comfortable staying active.

STRENGTH

Age-appropriate bodyweight movements, hills, jumping, crawling and games that help develop strong, capable young athletes.

AGILITY

Changing direction, accelerating, stopping, reacting and moving quickly through games and obstacle-style activities.

MOBILITY & COORDINATION

Skipping, hopping, balancing, jumping and moving in different directions to develop body awareness and confidence.

WHY RISING RUNNERS?

Running and movement skills provide a great foundation for almost every sport.

Whether your child plays soccer, hockey, basketball, lacrosse, baseball or simply loves being active, Jr. Rising Runners can help them develop the fitness and movement skills that transfer to the activities they already enjoy.

And kids don’t need to already be “runners.”

There are no tryouts, no running experience required and no pressure to be the fastest.

Our goal is to help every child:

Move better • Get stronger • Build endurance • Gain confidence • HAVE FUN!

WHAT DOES A SESSION LOOK LIKE?

Kids might be chasing teammates in a relay, navigating an obstacle course, running a short hill, playing a reaction game, practising balance and coordination, or completing a team challenge.

They’ll be moving throughout the session, but they’ll often be having too much fun to realize how much fitness they’re developing!
